20 Cape Cod Interior Design Ideas With Pretty Blues and Coastal Details

Looking for cape cod interior design ideas that go beyond stripes and sailboats? Pale blue entryways, tucked-away window seats and white kitchens give you plenty to work with.

There are some playful rooms here too, including a peach bathroom with green window frames!

You can keep things simple or go all out with nautical details. Start with a room you’d love to refresh, then pick out a color or little decorating idea to try in your own home.

Cape Cod Interiors Worth Saving

blue walls and a long bench

We’re starting off strong with this pretty pale blue entryway. I love the long brown bench top against the white drawers and open cubbies.

Those black hooks are such a cute detail.

Try a blue-gray runner down the middle of your entry, then tuck baskets beneath the bench for a similar look.

high ceilings and coastal prints

How gorgeous is this ceiling? The white beams stretch right up to the peak, with windows above the French doors bringing the view into the room.

You don’t need a ceiling like this to borrow the decorating idea. Try a tidy grid of coastal prints above a cream sofa, then add blue pillows and a striped throw.

a little dormer window seat

This bedroom may just be one of my favorites here. I love the little window seat tucked between the gray cupboards. The sloping ceiling makes that spot feel like its own tiny nook.

Keep the bedding in pale shades if you want to follow this look. A darker throw across the foot of the bed is enough extra color.

white cabinets and blue stripes

If you are looking for a kitchen with sweet little details, this one is for you. There are blue pitchers on the open shelves, gathered curtains around the window and a striped runner below the apron-front sink.

I especially love the small flowers beside the faucet. Try a little vase there rather than filling your whole counter with decorations.

a pale green reading corner

Don’t want to redo an entire room? No problem!

Take inspiration from this pale green armchair, round gray pouf and little basket-style side table.

The leafy plants on the windowsills are my favorite finishing touch. A trailing plant beside a mirror would be a pretty addition to your own reading corner.

peach walls and green windows

How cute is this bathroom? Not gonna lie, that mermaid rug is hard to resist!

The peach walls, green window frames and coral towel make this a very different take on coastal decorating.

If you want to try the colors without repainting, start with green towels and a coral bath mat. Keep the bigger pieces white like the clawfoot tub here.

blue florals by the front door

I am obsessed with this entryway. The blue floral wallpaper and pale blue door are so pretty together, especially with the white paneling below.

A blue-and-white vase filled with white flowers carries the colors onto the console. Try a gold-tone mirror above yours if you like the extra shine.

a simple bench and baskets

If you’re looking for an entryway idea that doesn’t need lots of decoration, go with this brown bench, pale pillows and two big baskets underneath. The dark-framed botanical prints finish it off without adding more things to the seat.

books beneath the window seat

Who wouldn’t want to sit here with a book? This window seat wraps around the corner, with books tucked below the long cushion and more shelving at the side.

I love the mix of plaid, patterned and plain pillows. Try a few different covers in muted colors rather than making every pillow match.

sailboats and a striped rug

The nautical fans are going to love this! A sailboat painting hangs above the dining table while the navy-and-white rug has a border of starfish shapes.

Those blue flowers are such a pretty addition. If you want a quieter version for your own dining room, try a plain striped rug beneath similar spindle-back chairs.

an attic bedroom in cream

This is another lovely window seat idea, but it’s a little different from the one above. Here, the long seat sits beside a bed under the sloped ceiling, with drawers tucked underneath.

The hanging lantern is my favorite part. Keep the pillows and bedding in cream and beige if you want this same understated look.

green beams and trailing plants

If you are looking for lots of plant inspo, then this one is for you. There’s so much to love, from the little pots along the windows to the leafy plants surrounding the hanging chair.

I love the pale green ceiling and peach details in the rug. Try repeating those colors in your pillows if you want to bring a little of this sunroom into your space.

white seating and pale blue pillows

I’d happily keep this soft color scheme. The pale blue pillows, white sofas and big rectangular coffee table look so pretty together.

Don’t forget to look up at the basket-style pendant! A similar light would be a lovely way to repeat the brown tones of the chairs without adding another piece of furniture.

blue paneling and botanical prints

This is a simple entryway idea to build on. Pale blue paneling runs around the walls, with botanical pictures above and black hooks beside the bench.

Try painting your doorway trim the same blue, just like this room. Then add a dark striped pillow if you want a little more pattern.

a blue sofa by the fireplace

This blue sofa may just be my favorite spot on the list. The checked pillow and pale throw are so pretty beside the brick fireplace.

There’s another sailboat painting here too, this time above a white mantel. For a similar arrangement, pair one large picture with a few candleholders, keeping any candles clear of the frame.

navy bunks and porthole mirrors

Want to go all out with a nautical theme? This room certainly does!

Navy bunks, round porthole-style mirrors and red-and-white bedding bring in plenty of boat-inspired details.

The anchor rug and little model sailboat keep the theme going. You could borrow just those accessories for a simpler bedroom update.

a blue trunk and wall oars

How cute is this little entry? The worn-looking blue trunk sits beneath a round rope-edged mirror, with two oars displayed above it.

I especially love the lantern overhead. If you want to try the arrangement at home, start with a low chest and round mirror before deciding how many nautical extras to add.

stairway pictures and a striped rug

Don’t want to add sailboats or anchors to your entryway? No problem there!

This space keeps things simple with white stair rails, brown steps and a pale striped rug.

Try arranging dark-framed pictures along the rise of your stairs. The bench below the hooks gives you a separate spot for shoes without crowding the steps.

gingham curtains and dotted mugs

How sweet is this dining corner? The checked curtains and matching-style table runner are adorable, especially with those blue dotted mugs.

A white pitcher full of flowers sits in the middle of the table. Try mixing a small dot pattern with checks in your own table setting rather than buying everything in the same print.

a blue-green attic office

Last but definitely not least, we have this pretty tucked-away office. I am in love with the blue-green paneling carried across the sloping ceiling.

The book-filled shelves and little window seat make good use of the narrow end of the room.

Try a patterned rug beneath a dark brown desk to follow this look. A vase of orange-brown branches would be a lovely finishing touch.
