Looking for ralph lauren dining room inspiration? Dark brown furniture, blue-and-white vases and a little plaid give you plenty to work with.

These rooms and decorating details offer different takes on that classic look, from navy walls to pale stripes.

You can keep things simple or go all out with a sparkling chandelier. Start with a table you love, then pick a few details to try around it.

These are style ideas rather than a verified collection of branded rooms.

Classic dining room ideas worth saving

dark cabinet and cream chairs

We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous dark display cabinet. I love the white dishes lined up behind the doors, especially with the little lights above them.

Try a mix of cream chairs and striped backs around your table. A clear vase of leafy branches is a lovely finishing touch.

plaid and a little rocking horse

How cute is this holiday sideboard detail? The gold-colored rocking horse sits against bright red plaid beside a miniature wheeled drinks display.

If you want a smaller version of this look, try a framed plaid accent next to a stack of dessert plates. You don’t need to copy the whole Christmas setup.

navy walls and gold frames

This navy dining room may just be one of my favorites here. I love the dark curtains against the white window trim. The small gold-colored frames look so pretty on those blue walls.

Bring the color onto your table with navy napkins like these. White plates keep the place settings simple.

plaid chair backs

If you love plaid, this one is for you. The dark checked chair backs have little rows of gold-colored studs around their edges, with a red patterned rug underneath.

The tiny gift boxes on the plates are such a cute holiday detail. Try plaid wrapping with red ribbon to follow the same idea.

blue vases and white flowers

I am obsessed with these big white flower arrangements. They look so pretty in the matching blue-and-white vases, especially beside the simple white plates.

For a smaller table, you could try just one patterned vase with a rounded bunch of white flowers.

green walls and horse artwork

Want something a little darker than cream walls? This deep green is gorgeous with the horse-and-rider picture and pale curtains.

I especially love the different chairs around the table. The tall brown end chair sits beside slim dark chairs rather than a perfectly matching set.

white tablecloth and curved chairs

Don’t want to go all out with dark paint? No problem!

This pale room has plenty to love, from the curved chair backs to the white dishes inside the tall brown cabinet.

The scalloped edge of the tablecloth is my favorite little detail. Try something similar if you want to dress up a plain table.

striped chairs and blue hydrangeas

How pretty are these striped chairs? The long chair covers and big blue hydrangea arrangement make this dining space feel a little different from the darker rooms above.

I love the sailboat picture over the sideboard too. Keep that idea in mind if you prefer nautical artwork to a gallery of small prints.

curved seats and paired lamps

This is a lovely option if you like traditional furniture without lots of little decorations. Rounded chair backs surround the table, with pink flowers in the middle.

Try a matching lamp at each end of your sideboard, just like this pair. Their patterned shades are worth a closer look.

glossy green shelves

I love these glossy green shelves and the matching doorway. This picture shows a study-style seating area rather than a dining setup, but the shelving is still a pretty detail to borrow.

For your dining room, try the same dark green around shelves displaying dishes, books and a few framed pictures.

landscape mural and tall candles

If you are looking for something beyond framed pictures, then this landscape mural is for you. The trees, little buildings and cloudy sky stretch across the wall above pale green paneling.

The sideboard decoration stays simple: tall, slim candleholders grouped on a tray. I’d keep the rest just as spare.

red berries and black chairs

This red berry arrangement is absolutely gorgeous. The branches spread out above the dark round table, with silver-colored details repeated in the bowl and chair trim.

There’s plenty of sparkle overhead too! If you want to borrow just one detail, try red berry stems as your centerpiece.

antler lighting and pinecones

Looking for a more rustic direction? This room swaps the shaded chandelier for antler-shaped lighting with exposed bulbs.

The long table has an uneven outer edge and plain black chairs.

I love the row of pinecones down the middle. Try a shorter grouping on your own table if you want to leave room for serving dishes.

green stripes and pink curtains

The green and pink pairing is so cute in this room. Vertical stripes run up toward the sloped ceiling, with pale pink curtains around the tall arched window.

You don’t have to choose dark colors for a classic dining space. A little blue flower arrangement looks lovely here too.

tufted seating by the window

Don’t have a separate formal dining room? This table-and-bench nook gives you another idea to work with.

I love the pale tufted back beside the black window frame.

Try checked cushions and a pair of stacked prints to follow the look. The lantern-style wall light is a pretty alternative to another table lamp.

white roses and tall candleholders

This is one of my favorite table settings on the list. The white roses look gorgeous in their silver-colored bowls, with tall branching candleholders between them.

Don’t miss the little bird decorations on the white runner. They’re such a sweet detail beside the more formal place settings.

garden walls and a dining bench

I love this garden scene above the white paneling. The pink flowers on the table pick up the colors on the wall, with blue-and-white vases tucked beneath them.

A long patterned bench sits along one side of the table. Try that arrangement if you’d rather not have matching chairs all the way around.

branches above the sideboard

Your sideboard can be part of the evening too. This one holds a bottle, a wine glass and a small snack board beneath a big gold-colored mirror.

I especially love the tall leafy branches. If you try this setup with candles, leave plenty of space between the flames and the foliage.

yellow flowers and white chairs

If you are looking for something simple to pull together, this centerpiece is a lovely starting point. A tall patterned vase and two small blue-and-white jars sit together on a round tray.

The yellow flowering branches are my favorite part. They add a little color beside the plain white chairs without needing a whole table setting.

oversized mirror and dark sideboard

Last but definitely not least, we have this pretty sideboard arrangement. I love the oversized dark-framed mirror with a small shaded light on either side.

The red flowers and tall candleholders give you a few details to borrow. Try centering your mirror above the sideboard before adding anything else.
