20 Fall Window Decor Ideas With Leaves, Pumpkins and Pretty Lights

Looking for fall window decor that goes beyond a pumpkin on the sill? Think glowing leaf garlands, little berry wreaths and colorful leaves across the glass.

There’s plenty to choose from here, whether you love bright orange or want to keep things a little quieter.

You can keep it simple or go all out. Most of these pictures show window displays, with a few doorway and corner arrangements included as inspiration to adapt rather than copy exactly.

Fall decorating ideas for your windows and nearby spaces

glowing leaves around the sink

We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous kitchen window. I love the brown leaves trailing down both sides and the little lights tucked between them.

The row of tall candles makes it even prettier.

Try battery-operated tapers in dark holders for your own version. Keep the little jack-o’-lantern nearby if you want a touch of Halloween too.

hanging leaves and pinecones

How pretty is this? Pinecones, curled leaves and little sprigs hang at different heights across the window.

There’s so much to look at without one big decoration covering the glass.

For a similar arrangement, leave gaps between your hanging pieces rather than packing every strand full.

a pumpkin-filled window box

I am obsessed with this window box. The orange, yellow and pale green gourds look so cute piled beneath the weathered window.

If you want to follow this look, mix a few larger pumpkins with smaller gourds. Finish with an orange bow at the front and let the ribbon ends hang below.

oversized autumn foliage

If you love going all out with leaves, this one has plenty of inspiration. Burgundy stems, broad brown leaves and pale sprays surround a glazed doorway rather than a standalone window.

For a window version, try a smaller arrangement across the top corner. I’d keep those pale trailing pieces against the darker leaves.

red berries and little leaves

This wreath may just be one of my favorites here. I love the red berries scattered through the twiggy circle and the little orange leaves sticking out around the edges.

Leave the center open like this if you want to see the window panes behind it.

colorful checked curtains

Don’t want to add pumpkins or garlands? No problem!

These checked curtains bring in burgundy, gold, green and blue all on their own. The gathered top is such a pretty detail.

Try similar autumn-colored checks if you’d rather change your window dressing than add decorations to the sill.

purple flowers and ruffled greens

Who says you have to stick to orange? The purple flowers and big ruffled leaves are gorgeous in this window box.

I especially love the pale green trails spilling over the front.

There’s even a little white pumpkin tucked among the plants. That’s a cute detail to borrow if you want just a small seasonal touch.

little lights along the frame

If you’re looking for something simple, go with little string lights around your window. Here they run across the top, down beside the curtain and along the sill.

The trees outside do most of the decorating. You don’t need to add a leaf garland when you already love the view.

mini pumpkins in a clear vase

How cute are these little pumpkins? The clear container shows off the orange shapes and dark acorns tucked between them.

Decorative corn stands at one end of the sill with orange candlelight at the other.

For your own display, use flameless candles near the runner and husks. I’d keep the amber-colored holder too.

scattered leaves on the glass

I love this mix of golden yellow, orange and deep red leaves. The different sizes make it look like they’ve fallen right across the window.

Try arranging leaf decorations at different angles with a little space around each one. There’s no need to make neat rows.

tall plumes in an amber vase

Don’t want to go overboard with bright colors? This amber-colored vase and tall beige plumes keep things simple.

The picture shows a floor arrangement beside a mirror, not a window. You could borrow the idea for a clear spot beside your window, keeping the tall stems away from opening panels.

golden leaves and long ribbons

I am obsessed with this golden leaf wreath. It’s so full, plus those long brown and taupe ribbons are gorgeous against the pale frame.

Try a layered bow near the top of your wreath if you want the same look. Let the tails fall past the bottom instead of trimming them short.

white pumpkins and a black lantern

If you are looking for lots of little details, then this one is for you. There are white pumpkins on the wreath, orange berries reaching out to the sides and a black lantern below.

I love how the pumpkins repeat at the bottom of the weathered frame. Try a small matching cluster beneath your wreath to bring the two parts together.

a jack-o’-lantern on a little stool

Here’s another view of the kitchen window from the start, with a closer look at that cute pumpkin corner. The jack-o’-lantern sits on a little stool beside a white pumpkin.

If you’re borrowing one detail, try giving your favorite pumpkin a little height. Keep the smaller decorations down on the counter.

bright pumpkin and leaf clings

How adorable is this pumpkin with the little curling shapes nearby? Red, orange, yellow and pale green leaf shapes fill the glass above it.

The dark outlines make every shape easy to see.

Try a larger pumpkin near the bottom of your window with smaller leaf clings scattered above.

mushrooms and leaves on strings

The mushroom fans are going to love this! Colorful leaves, acorns and mushroom shapes hang in loose rows across the window.

I especially love the spotted red mushroom. Mix a few playful shapes into your leaf strands if you want something a little different from an all-leaf garland.

muted flowers beside the window

This is such a pretty way to decorate without attaching anything to the glass. A large cream vase holds rounded flower clusters in muted pink, green and cream beside the kitchen window.

The burgundy leaves are my favorite part. Try a few darker stems in your own arrangement if you like this softer take on fall colors.

tall harvest bundles by the door

This picture is a front-door display rather than a window arrangement. Tall tied stalks frame the dark door with orange and white pumpkins below.

If you have space beside an exterior window, you could adapt the idea with one smaller bundle and a pumpkin cluster. Keep the window and walking route clear rather than copying this full doorway setup.

orange slices catching the light

I am obsessed with these glowing orange slices. The light shines through their centers while little round beads sit above them on the hanging strings.

The staggered lengths are worth keeping if you try a similar mobile. They let you see the individual slices even where their edges overlap.

a smiling scarecrow window

Last but definitely not least, we have this adorable decorative window frame. The painted scarecrow has a blue shirt, a patched brown hat and a little black bird perched above.

I love the orange leaves draped around the outside. This is a fun option for a wall-hung old window frame rather than the window you look through every day.
