20 Fall Chalkboard Art Ideas With Pumpkins, Leaves and Pretty Lettering

Looking for fall chalkboard art with a little something extra? Think curly pumpkin stems, colorful leaves and little mushrooms tucked around your lettering.

These pictures include seasonal chalkboards plus a few illustration references that you could adapt for your own board.

You can keep things simple with white outlines or go all out with a whole pumpkin patch. I especially love the leafy borders.

Pick a favorite phrase, then see which little details you’d like to try.

Fall Chalkboard Ideas Worth Saving

hello fall and string lights

We’re starting off strong with this cute hello fall board. I love the yellow string lights drawn across the top and the little white dots inside the big letters.

Try orange pumpkins along the bottom with a football tucked beside them. Those long curling green stems are worth keeping too.

falling leaves and a blue pumpkin

This tree may just be one of my favorite details here. The trunk runs all the way up the left side, with orange and yellow leaves drifting around the white script.

If you want to try a different pumpkin color, take a little inspo from the blue one at the bottom. It looks so pretty beside the orange and white.

hello pumpkin outlines

How cute is this pumpkin grouping? The tall white pumpkin sits behind smaller orange and green ones, with curly stems reaching into the space above.

Keep the greeting short if you’re trying this look. A simple “Hello Pumpkin” leaves plenty of room for those loose curved lines.

a basket of red apples

If you want something other than pumpkins, this harvest board is for you. The tipped basket and red apples fill the lower corner while “Happy Harvest Season” curves down the right.

I especially love the tiny colorful leaves between the words. Add a few to your own lettering instead of drawing a full border.

leaves and a coffee cup

The coffee fans are going to love this! “Leaves are falling, coffee is calling” surrounds a little cup with hearts drawn into the top.

Try the same mix of big outlined words and smaller thin letters on a coffee-station board. Don’t forget the row of leaves above the greeting.

thanksgiving illustration

How sweet is the little bird at the top? This cream-background illustration has sunflowers, acorns and a cornucopia around the Thanksgiving greeting.

For a chalkboard version, you could use white lettering inside a similar orange-and-yellow border.

sunflowers and little bees

I am obsessed with these big sunflowers. The tiny striped bees and white hearts make the “You are my Sunshine” lettering even cuter.

This isn’t a specifically fall greeting, but the yellow flowers could work in an early-fall display. Keep the long green stems if you’re filling a tall board like this one.

farmers market lettering

There’s so much pretty lettering to look at here, from the sweeping “farmers” to the little banner below. Strawberries, carrots and green vegetables surround the center.

This is a general market design rather than a fall-specific board. For an autumn version, you could keep the lettering arrangement and replace the strawberries with drawings of apples or pumpkins.

thankful and grateful

Don’t want to use lots of colors? No problem!

This board keeps the drawings and lettering white, with leaves and acorns above and below “thankful & grateful.”

I love the tiny dots on the acorn caps. They give you a sweet little detail without needing to shade a whole picture.

a moonlit pumpkin patch

Sally and Linus in a pumpkin patch? This one is so cute!

The orange pumpkins and scattered colorful leaves sit beneath a big dark sky with a moon and little stars.

If you want to follow this scene, leave plenty of open sky above the characters. You don’t need to add a quote to every board.

spotted mushrooms and flowers

These red-orange mushrooms are just too pretty not to save. I love the white spots on the caps and the thin lines underneath them.

Try pairing your mushroom drawings with yellow flowers, green curls and brown leaves like these. The mix is lovely if you want a woodland theme instead of pumpkins.

give thanks with curling vines

If you love curly lettering, then this one is for you. The flourishes on “give thanks” fit right in with the green vines winding around the board.

The brown leaves and little acorns are my favorite parts. Let a few vines reach between the words if you’re trying a similar arrangement.

three stacked pumpkins

Want a simple shape to practice? This picture shows three outlined pumpkins stacked from large to small, with a little curved stem on top.

It’s a line drawing on a pale background, not finished chalkboard art. You could use the arrangement as a reference for white pumpkin outlines on your own board.

a colorful fall wreath

This is actually one of my favorite borders here. There are sunflowers, spotted mushrooms, a little pumpkin and so many different leaves around “Fall in Love.”

Try yellow lettering if you want to follow this design. I’d keep the few loose leaves outside the wreath too.

a smiling scarecrow

How adorable is this scarecrow? The red hat, blue pants and big red buttons give you lots of color beside the orange pumpkin.

The “Happy Fall” greeting sits on a tall yellow sign within the drawing. That’s a cute option if you want to include words without putting them across your character.

sweater weather lettering

If you are looking for something with fewer drawing details, this one is for you. Tall pink, orange and pale yellow letters spell out “Sweater weather is better weather.”

Add a few small leaf outlines around your words to follow this simple design. There’s no need for a big illustrated scene.

pumpkin pie lettering

I love the pie slice beneath the big “Pumpkin Pie” heading. This cream-background recipe-style sign has an orange ribbon and little bowl and saucepan drawings you could borrow for your own board.

Try keeping the large heading above your drawings like this. Use a verified recipe if you want to include actual baking instructions.

a september calendar

Give your calendar a little fall detail with mushrooms across the top and pumpkins along the bottom. The green “September” lettering looks so cute between the orange mushroom caps.

I especially love the small fence in the lower corner. Try keeping your decorations around the edges so there’s still space to write inside the grid.

a white pumpkin and heart

Don’t want to add words to your board? No problem there!

This big white-outlined pumpkin has a tall twisting stem, curled vines and a little heart underneath.

The pale shading along the curved edges is gorgeous. Keep the leaf outlines below if you want a few extra details without adding color.

gather with grateful hearts

Last but definitely not least, we have this pretty “Gather here with grateful hearts” board. I love the curved banner around “grateful” and the orange leaves scattered beside the lettering.

The tiny heart between the leafy branches at the bottom is such a sweet finishing detail. Save this one if you want a Thanksgiving greeting with plenty of lettering inspo.
