Looking for halloween cookies that are a little spooky and a whole lot of cute? Think pink pumpkins, wide-eyed monsters and little witch hats.
These ideas include decorated cutouts, sprinkle-covered rounds and even a haunted house if you want to go all out.
You can keep the decorations simple or pick something with lots of tiny details. I especially love the smiling ghosts!
Start with a favorite design, then choose the colors you’d like on your own cookie tray.

Halloween Cookie Ideas Worth Saving
pink pumpkins and smiling ghosts
We’re starting off strong with these super cute pink pumpkins and white ghosts. I love the little rosy cheeks and shiny black eyes.
The gold-colored stems and leaves make the pumpkins extra pretty.
If you want to follow this softer Halloween look, try mixing pale pink and brighter pink pumpkins on the same tray.
purple spiderweb
How gorgeous is this purple spiderweb? The curved black lines spread right out to the pointed edges, with tiny sparkles scattered across the top.
Keep the purple and black pairing if you want your web cookies to look a little different from the usual white ones.
green monster eyes
If you’re looking for a monster design without lots of tiny icing details, go with this bright green look. The scattered eyes are so funny, especially with big and small ones mixed together. Who says a monster needs just two eyes?
ridged orange pumpkins
This pumpkin may just be one of my favorites here. I love the deep curved grooves and that little green leaf beside the brown stem.
There are pale pumpkins in the background too. Try both colors if you’d like a whole pumpkin-patch assortment rather than an all-orange tray.
mummies with colorful eyes
Looks like these little cookie people are dressed up for Halloween too, lol! White icing zigzags across their heads, arms and legs, with colorful eyes peeking between the stripes.
Try yellow, green or pink eyes like these instead of keeping every mummy the same.
witch hats with orange bands
Don’t want to go all out with faces or spiderwebs? No problem!
These little witch hats have dark round brims, pointed brown centers and orange rings around the bases. I’d keep that simple color combination just as it is.
wide-eyed bats
I am obsessed with these bat shapes. The jagged wings and little white eyes are just too cute together.
The dark crumb-covered tops give them a different look from smooth iced cookies. Try arranging yours on a white platter so those wing shapes are easy to see.
black cats with pink ears
Calling all cat lovers, how adorable is this one? The pink nose and inner ears are my favorite details against the dark cookie.
There are little black whiskers on either side too. Keep those if you’re borrowing this design for your own cat-shaped treats.
sprinkles and scattered eyes
If you are looking for lots of color, then this one is for you. There’s orange, purple, green and yellow all over these cookies, plus little eyes tucked between the sprinkles.
I especially love the tiny bat and ghost shapes. Add a few Halloween-shaped sprinkles to your own mix if you want that same playful detail.

a skeleton and a mummy
How cute is this little pair? One cookie has white skeleton details over orange icing.
The other has a green face peeking out from thick white mummy wraps.

This is a fun way to use the same person shape for two completely different Halloween characters.
ghost faces and sprinkle cookies
This box has a little bit of everything. I love the tiny pale ghost faces surrounding the rectangular chocolate pieces, with sprinkle-covered cookies tucked alongside them.
If you’re putting together a gift box, try a mix of decorated tops and simpler colorful cookies rather than repeating just one design.
loaded green monsters
These green monsters definitely go all out! There are dark sandwich-cookie pieces, colorful round candies and little white eyes across the bumpy tops.
The purple and orange details look so cute against that bright green. Save this one if you prefer a messy monster look to neat rows of icing.
creepy finger cookies
Want something a little creepier than smiling ghosts? These finger-shaped cookies have knuckle lines, pointed nail-like ends and red details around the nails.
The uneven bends are what make them look so spooky. I’d keep those irregular shapes rather than trying to make every finger match.
sprinkle-covered witch hats
This is another witch hat idea, but it’s a little different from the one above. I love the orange, black and white sprinkles covering the round brim.
The pointed center stays plain. Try that same mix if you want extra decoration without covering the whole hat.
little spiders with big eyes
Not gonna lie, this spider looks more sweet than scary! A shiny brown center forms the body, with curved dark legs stretching across the golden cookie.
The big white eyes are my favorite part. Keep them slightly uneven if you want your spiders to have the same goofy expression.
purple and black haunted house
If you want to go beyond individual cookies, this haunted-house design has plenty of inspiration. The purple tower, orange windows and steep patterned roof are gorgeous together.
This is a whole construction project rather than a single cookie to decorate. For a smaller take, you could borrow the black spiderweb windows for house-shaped cutouts.
mini candy corn shapes
Don’t want to add faces or any spooky creatures? No problem there!
These little cookies use yellow, orange and pale stripes to create a candy corn look.

I love how cute the small tapered shapes look piled together. You could serve yours in a shallow bowl alongside larger decorated cookies.
white-frosted sprinkle squares
If you like a simpler design, these frosted squares are a pretty one to save. The white tops have orange, purple, green and black sprinkles scattered across them.
There’s no need for a character on every treat when the colors already say Halloween.

a colorful cookie gift box
This is one of my favorite ways to put together a Halloween assortment. Every cookie looks different, from the orange-coated one with a jack-o’-lantern center to the dark crumb-covered one on the right.
The little pumpkin picture on the top middle cookie is adorable. Try choosing one main decoration for each cookie if you want a similarly varied box.
ghosts bats and tiny pumpkins
Last but definitely not least, we have these pretty iced rounds. I am obsessed with the lavender, orange and black!
The smiling ghost and little pumpkins are especially cute.
You don’t have to copy every design. Pick a few favorites, like the black bats on orange or the spiderweb on lavender, for your own matching set.
