20 Preppy Shelf Decor Ideas With Pink, Pattern and Pretty Details

Looking for preppy shelf decor that feels a little more like you? Think pink book stacks, blue-and-white jars and cute frames filled with your favorite photos.

These ideas range from packed bookshelves to smaller displays, with a few tabletop details you can borrow for your shelves too.

You can keep things simple or go all out with color. Start with books and a frame, then decide whether you want flowers, stripes or even a little disco ball!

Preppy Shelf Ideas Worth Saving

pink books and little lamps

We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous arched bookshelf. I love the row of books that goes from pink to blue and green. The little pink lamps are just as cute.

If you want to go a step further, tie a striped bow around a shelf accessory like the one on the left. A small mirrored ball adds another fun detail up top.

blue jars under white arches

If you love blue and white, this one is for you. Patterned jars fill the two arched sections, with pale books and framed photos tucked between them.

Try mixing tall jars with smaller lidded ones rather than choosing everything in the same size. I’d keep the little gold-colored branch too.

pink lanterns and pineapples

How cute are those pink lanterns? They sit on either side of a coral-shaped decoration and a stack of colorful books.

The gold-colored pineapple above is another favorite.

There’s plenty to borrow here without copying every shelf. Start with a matching pair of decorations, then add green or pink books between them.

photo frames and pink stacks

This is actually one of my favorite ways to display personal photos. The frames have different borders, from open lattice patterns to a wavy white edge.

I love the pink book stack with the shell-covered box on top. Try a pair of pink glasses in front of a photo if you want to bring that color onto the next part of your shelf.

blue checks in the kitchen

Who says your kitchen shelves can’t join in? The blue-and-white checked canisters, large container and cake stand make this display so pretty.

White mugs hang below the shelf while a little sailboat sits on a book stack. If you’re borrowing one detail, I’d choose the checked pieces and let your everyday dishes fill the rest.

a skinny tower of pink

Have a narrow spot beside a window? This little shelf tower gives you plenty of inspo.

A pink bag gets its own spot at the bottom, with a mirrored ball and pink pineapple just above.

Keep each level simple so your favorite pieces stay visible. I love the red cap displayed on the books.

stripes and a ruffled rim

I am obsessed with this little striped vase. The pale blue stripes are lovely, but that red line around the wavy rim is my favorite part.

This picture is a close-up rather than a styled shelf. For your own display, try one vase like this beside a short stack of pink books.

tennis rackets and sailboats

The tennis fans are going to love this! Two rackets hang between framed pictures beside shelves of folded clothes in this shop display.

Take the sporty idea home by hanging a racket beside your bookcase. A little sailboat on a nearby shelf would bring in the nautical detail shown here too.

green shelves and blue jars

Don’t want a plain white background? No problem! This green bookcase looks so pretty with blue-and-white jars and gold-colored frames.

I especially love the small framed scene on its little stand. Leaving some room around it lets you enjoy that detail without adding more decorations.

shells and stacked frames

If you are looking for lots of coastal details, then this one is for you. There are shell shapes, branching decorations and small framed pictures tucked among the books.

The oversized shell-shaped bowl may just be my favorite. Try one larger piece on your middle shelf, then place smaller frames beside it like this.

hydrangeas and pale blue

I love this pale blue lamp beside the big bunch of hydrangeas. The ribbed clear vase sits on white books, with pink tapers nearby.

This arrangement is on a cabinet top, but you could borrow the vase-and-books pairing for an open shelf. Leave enough space above the flowers rather than squeezing them in.

pink tulips and star lights

How adorable are these little star lights? They run underneath a shelf filled with pale books, a tiny lamp and framed pink artwork.

The trailing plant and tulips are lovely next to all that pink. Try a short strand of lights along a shelf edge if you want a similar glow.

pink cubes and gold stripes

This is a cute way to mix storage with a few favorite decorations. Pink bins alternate with gold-and-white striped ones, while the upper cubes hold flowers, figures and a pink camera.

The large fashion print ties in with the pink rose garland around the bookcase. You could choose one oversized picture above yours instead of filling the top with small objects.

colorful curves and checks

I am obsessed with this colorful display. The yellow vase, heart-covered lamp base and red checked mug are so fun together.

The rounded cubbies each have their own little arrangement. Don’t forget the striped vase with the purple ruffled rim if you want another playful detail.

sailboats and a framed map

If you’re looking for a nautical shelf idea, go with this mix of books, sailboats and a large framed map. I love the dark blue anchor sitting on the book stack.

The globe at the top gives you another shape to work with. Try a smaller globe on an open shelf if you don’t have room above your bookcase.

pastel tapers and a tiger

How cute is this lineup of candles? The twists, rounded bumps and straight ridges make each one a little different.

That tiger figure is quite the finishing touch!

Borrow the pastel colors and gold-tone holders for your display. On shelves with anything overhead, keep the candles unlit or choose flameless versions.

pretty trays for little things

Don’t want your jewelry scattered everywhere? These white trays are a pretty starting point.

I love the flower-shaped one beside the pink mushroom lamp.

This is a tabletop arrangement, but a shallow tray could work on a shelf you can easily reach. Choose a wavy or rounded border to follow the same idea.

blue florals and little dogs

Those little blue-and-white dog figures are just too cute. They sit in front of a photo frame, with a patterned jar beside them.

The rest of the bookcase mixes floral details, stacked boxes and colorful books. Try displaying a matching pair of figures together rather than separating them across different shelves.

green backing and a wavy frame

This is another green shelf idea, but it’s a little different from the one above. White shelf edges surround a darker green background, with blue jars and a colorful floral vase in front.

My favorite part is the little wavy photo frame. A frame with an interesting border can be enough decoration beside one larger vase.

pastel floating shelves

Last but definitely not least, we have these pretty pink, white and lilac shelves. I love the pink camera and little purple radio!

Books, small plants and tulips fill the three rows without covering every bit of space. Try a different pale color on each shelf if you want to follow this look.
