Looking for tops for inverted triangle body shape that you’ll actually want to wear? These ideas include deep V-necks, gathered waists and pretty asymmetric styles.
There are simple jeans outfits here too, so you can start with pieces already in your closet.
You can keep things simple or try a little more detail. Body-shape advice isn’t a dress code, so there’s no need to rule out a neckline you love.
Pick your favorite colors and shapes, then make the outfit your own.
Pretty tops and outfit ideas to try
brown V-neck and long cuffs
We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous brown top. I love the deep V-neck and those extra-long flared cuffs.
The close-fitting waist keeps the shape quite different from the loose sleeves.
Pair yours with black jeans and a black belt to follow this look.
crossover front and gathered waist
How pretty is this crossover neckline? The folds run down from the shoulders into a wide gathered waist, with loose short sleeves on either side.

If you want to build an outfit around it, try cream wide-leg trousers. That dark brown would look lovely with a lighter bottom.

twist front and flared jeans
I am obsessed with this twist-front top. The pale upper half fades into darker sleeves and a flared hem.
It’s such a pretty alternative to a plain cropped tee.
The collage pairs it with black flared jeans and gold-tone jewelry. Don’t forget a little pendant necklace if you want to follow the same combination.
plum top with pointed sleeves
This sleeve shape may just be one of my favorites here. I love how the plum sleeves fall into long points beside the blue jeans.
The high neckline keeps the front simple while the gathers sit at the side of the waist. Try long earrings like these if you want a little extra detail.
black scoop-neck tee
Don’t want to go all out and want something super simple? This black scoop-neck tee and white pants pairing is for you.
The brown belt and gold-tone chain are lovely little additions. Keep those if you want to dress up a plain tee without adding another layer.
brown halter and pointed heels
How cute is this brown-and-blue combination? The halter has a draped neckline and a fitted lower half, paired here with wide-leg jeans.
I especially love the glossy brown slingbacks. Choose a brown shoulder bag too if you want to carry that color through the outfit.
angled neckline and loose sleeves
If you love an asymmetric neckline, this one is worth saving. The dark brown top has loose sleeves and little horizontal gathers through the waist.
I’d try it with a flared skirt to do something different from jeans.
draped brown top and blue flares
This is another pretty brown top, but it’s a little different from the one above. There’s a loose, cropped middle with much longer sides.
The blue flared jeans and brown buckled boots are such a cute pairing. Add a long pendant like the one in the collage to finish your version.
burgundy gathers and a statement belt
If you are looking for lots of accessory inspo, then this one is for you. There’s an ornate belt, a stack of bangles and a little burgundy shoulder bag.
I love the gathered top with its long pointed sleeves. Keep the flared jeans if you want to try this whole outfit.
red cami and oversized cargos
This red cami is so cute with the oversized black cargo pants. The narrow straps and little trim at the hem keep the top simple next to all those pockets and hanging straps.
Try layered necklaces like these rather than adding another color.
gray layers and wide-leg trousers
I love this layered gray outfit. The sleeveless top sits over a lighter long-sleeve top, with the flared cuffs and lower hem left showing.
The wide-leg trousers carry on the gray palette. A white shoulder bag is a pretty finishing touch if you want to recreate the combination.

striped top and dark flares
The pink, gray and pale stripes are so cute in this outfit. The neckline sits off one shoulder above dark flared jeans.

You don’t have to skip stripes just because of body-shape advice. If you love this look, try the tucked front and brown belt too.
burgundy halter with a flared hem
This is actually one of my favorite tops on the list. The gathered center and sweetheart neckline are so pretty, plus the lower half opens into a wide hem.

It’s shown with frayed shorts. For a different outfit, I’d pair it with dark flared jeans and a small pendant.
one-shoulder gray set
Don’t want to put lots of different colors together? No problem! Try this gray one-shoulder top with its matching skirt.
I love the gathered waist and uneven skirt hem. The white sandals keep the accessories simple.
teal top over white
How cute is that deep teal shade? The gathered top opens out below the bust, with a white underlayer peeking through the neckline.
Black wide-leg trousers and a large dark pendant complete this look. Keep the white layer visible if you want the same little break between the darker colors.
white V-neck and blue jeans
If you are looking for something simple to put together, this one is for you. A cropped white V-neck, blue flared jeans and dark sandals make up the outfit.
The sleeves finish around the elbows. I’d keep the small brown shoulder bag for a little color without adding much else.
cream top with wide sleeves
This is another V-neck idea, but the wide short sleeves give it a different shape. I love the visible texture and the curved seam beneath the bust.
Pair yours with light-blue jeans and a narrow black belt. A small gold-tone pendant looks lovely in that open neckline.
white draped neckline
I am obsessed with this draped white top. The loose folds across the front meet a fitted waist, with black pants keeping the rest of the outfit simple.
The chunky gold-tone bangles are my favorite extra detail. Try those if you want to leave the neckline free of jewelry.
black asymmetric top and burgundy skirt
Who doesn’t love black and burgundy together? This collage pairs a gathered asymmetric top with a long skirt that flares toward the hem.
I’d add small gold-tone earrings and let those two pieces do the rest.
gray cardigan and wide-leg jeans
Last but definitely not least, we have this gray button-front cardigan. I love the V-neck with the little layered necklaces.
The light-blue wide-leg jeans have broad hems that are worth keeping in your version. Finish with tan pointed shoes and a matching clutch to follow this look.
