Looking for decorated christmas cookies with a little something extra? Think pink snowflakes, tiny Christmas lights and reindeer with big red noses.
These designs give you plenty to choose from, whether you love classic red and green or want to try something a little different.
You can keep the shapes simple or go all out with the details. I especially love the little bows and patterned mittens.
Pick a favorite color combination first, then save the designs you’d like to try.
Christmas Cookie Decorating Ideas to Save
blue snowflake with white loops
How pretty is this snowflake? I love the long white loops over the dusty blue background.
The little dots at the ends and scattered white speckles give it so much detail.
If you want to try a similar design, keep the blue base and choose one white piping pattern to start with.
trees with tiny christmas lights
The little Christmas lights are so cute on these green trees. Some have dark strings with colorful bulbs while others have white swirls or snowy-looking zigzags.
You don’t have to decorate every tree the same way. Try two shades of green and switch between dots and loops for your own batch.
a big red reindeer nose
I am obsessed with this little reindeer face. It’s just so cute, especially that oversized red nose with its tiny white highlight.
The round shape leaves plenty of space around the brown antlers and black dot eyes. I’d keep this one just as simple rather than adding a border.
pink houses and pastel ornaments
If you love pink Christmas decorations, this one is for you. There’s a pink house with a teal door, a striped candy cane and even a Santa with a pink hat.
My favorite detail is the curled white beard. Try pairing pink with pale green and teal if you want a similar mix without sticking to traditional Christmas colors.
little houses and smiling gingerbread figures
How adorable are these smiling cookies? The gingerbread-shaped figures have red bow ties, green buttons and little white curls around their edges.

The houses are just as sweet, with snowy-looking roofs and bright red doors. Keep those red accents across the different shapes if you want your assortment to feel connected.
red mittens with piped patterns
The tiny pattern lovers are going to love this! These red mittens have rows of raised lines and little V-shaped details that look like knitted stitches.
I especially love the thick white cuffs. The snowmen beside them repeat the red and white with scarves and little green buttons.
watercolor-style green trees
Don’t want to add strings of lights or big ornaments? No problem!
These trees have a watercolor-style mix of pale mint, deep green and teal instead.
The little gold-colored flecks and clusters of white dots are gorgeous. I’d leave plenty of that swirled background showing if you’re using this as your inspiration.
pastel stockings and christmas bulbs
This may just be one of my favorite color combinations here. The pink and green stockings look so cute beside the red ornaments and white snowflakes.
There are little light-bulb shapes too, with gold-colored bases and fine loops inside. Choose those if you want a different shape to mix in with your trees.
round cookies with festive faces
Who says you need a different shape for every Christmas design? This tray uses circles for snowmen, smiling brown faces, snowflakes and Santa suits.
The black belt and yellow buckle make the red Santa cookies especially cute. Try a round-cookie assortment if you’d rather change the decoration than the outline.
green grinch faces and pink hearts
Looks like the Grinch has made his way onto the cookie tray too, lol! Those wide eyes and little tufts of green hair give the faces so much character.
I love the pink hearts with smaller green hearts inside. Keep the pink bows on the dotted trees if you want to carry that color through the rest of the set.
red swirls and pale blue snowflakes
Here’s another view of the round-cookie assortment, with a closer look at those red-and-white swirls. They’re such a pretty alternative to a character face.
The pale blue snowflakes are worth saving too. Fine white branches and a dot at each tip give you a very different design on the same round shape.
candy cane hearts and green bows
I love this heart with its candy cane border. The two curved ends meet at the top while the middle stays a plain muted red.
The big green bows on the striped candy canes are another favorite. Pair those with red-and-white or green-and-white pinwheel circles for a candy-themed set.
a polar bear with a striped scarf
How cute is this little polar bear? The pink cheeks and dark teal scarf are my favorite parts.
Fine white stripes run across the scarf with tiny dark fringe at the ends.
The penguin beside it wears a pale blue scarf, so you have another lovely color option if you want to try a winter animal theme.
plaid stars and woodland details
If you are looking for a set with lots of different details, then this one is for you. There’s red-and-black plaid, a white deer silhouette and a big red poinsettia.
I love the little greenery arrangements with their bows and pinecone designs. For your own version, you could choose just the plaid stars and leafy accents rather than recreating every shape.
red bows and leafy sprigs
This red-and-green set is so pretty. The leafy sprig cookie has a large red bow at the top and clusters of tiny red berries between the green leaves.

The Santa hat gets a little extra decoration too, with a red flower on its white band. That’s a lovely detail to borrow if you want something beyond a plain hat.
scalloped wreaths with red ribbons
I am obsessed with these wreath cookies. The scalloped white edges, little green leaves and raised red berries look gorgeous together.
The red ribbon bows are presentation details rather than icing. If you add ribbon to your own cookies, remove it before serving.
holiday lettering and a tiny bouquet
There’s so much to love on this board, but that little wrapped bouquet may be my favorite. Green stems and red berries sit against a tan background with a dark tie across the middle.
The green holiday lettering is pretty too. Mix a message cookie with snowmen and trees if you want a centerpiece among the character shapes.
purple fairy and nutcracker characters
Want a Christmas set that’s a little different? This one has a purple fairy, a red-jacketed nutcracker and a crowned mouse in green.
I love the purple and green ornaments around them. The tall clock adds another storybook detail, but you could keep your own set to the characters and a few matching trees.
pink snowflakes and white trees
This pink snowflake is just too pretty not to save. The white loops stretch out from the center with little branching lines near the points.
The white trees have pink, red and green dots along their garlands. Try carrying those same colors into piped lettering if you want to include round message cookies.

blue mugs and christmas sweaters
Last but definitely not least, we have these adorable blue mugs and sweaters. I love the little gingerbread figure on the sweater and the Christmas tree on the mug!
The white swirls above the mugs are covered with colorful tiny decorations. Keep the red mittens and smiling Santa in the mix if you want a brighter accent alongside all that pale blue.
