20 St Patricks Day Cookies With Shamrocks, Rainbows and Gold

Looking for st patricks day cookies with a little something extra? Think dotted shamrocks, pastel rainbows and tiny pots of gold.

These ideas include decorated cutouts plus colorful cookies that don’t need a whole scene piped on top.

You can keep things simple or go all out. I especially love the green shamrocks with little white dots. From orange leprechaun beards to cookies with bright green filling, there’s plenty here to inspire your holiday cookie tray.

St. Patrick’s Day Cookie Ideas to Save

dots and plaid shamrocks

We’re starting off strong with these super cute green shamrocks. I love the white polka dots and the thin crisscross lines.

Even with the same cookie shape, each design looks a little different.

If you want fewer details to pipe, try the dotted version instead of the plaid design.

little pots of gold

How cute are these little black pots? The piles of gold-colored decorations cover the tops, with round shamrock coins tucked all around them.

Try arranging your pot cookies in the middle of a platter with coin cookies around the edges.

pastel rainbows and green clovers

I am obsessed with this pastel rainbow pairing. The peach, pink and pale green arches look so pretty beside the deep green clovers.

The little sprinkle clusters are my favorite part. Keep them on one cloud or one clover leaf if you want to follow this design.

colorful rainbow toppings

Don’t want to pipe icing onto every cookie? No problem!

These round cookies have colorful rainbow, heart and clover decorations scattered across the tops, along with little white chips.

Save this one if you like lots of color without detailed lettering.

orange beards and green hats

How adorable are these leprechauns? The green hats sit right above round noses, with little smiles tucked into those big orange beards.

I especially love the curled lines along the beard edges. Don’t forget the black hatband and yellow buckle if you’re trying a similar design.

deep green crinkles

If you’re looking for something without detailed icing, go with this deep green crinkle look. The white dusting sits across the cracked tops while the broken cookie shows more green inside. No shamrock shape needed!

green chocolate chip cookies

Just look at those chocolate-filled cracks! These are labeled green mint chocolate chip cookies. The bright green tops have big patches of chocolate showing through.

This is a fun idea to save if you’d rather skip icing and let the chocolate stand out.

rainbows and little green pots

Who doesn’t love a rainbow cookie? These have thick bands of red, orange, yellow, green and blue, with white clouds at one end and little green pots at the other.

The yellow sprinkles spilling out of the pots are such a cute finishing touch.

shiny gold coins

Bring a little shine to your cookie tray with this gold-coin decorating inspiration. The close-up shows a brush working over a small round piece beside a gold-colored coin with raised details.

For a similar finish on cookies, choose a gold decorating product specifically labeled edible.

white dipping and green sprinkles

This half-dipped look may just be one of my favorites here. I love the white coating against the dark brown cookies, especially with those green sprinkles.

Try a mix of green rods and white and gold-colored decorations to follow the same look. Leave part of each cookie uncovered.

pale green shamrock leaves

If you want your shamrocks to look a little different, try this pale green design instead of bright emerald. The raised heart-shaped leaves sit over a darker green base.

The scattered crystals are so pretty. I’d leave these just like this without adding dots or lettering.

simple green cutouts

Don’t want to add icing or any sprinkles? No problem there! These light green clover cutouts keep the shape as the main detail. Their plain tops would make a lovely change beside a tray of decorated cookies.

green-filled cookie sandwiches

I am obsessed with that bright green filling. It peeks out between brown, crackled cookies in thick piped waves.

If you’re planning a mixed cookie platter, try adding a few sandwich cookies like these alongside your flat cutouts.

a shamrock with a message

Let your cookie do the talking with this green shamrock. The white lettering reads “Kiss me I’m Irish” across the leaves.

Keep the background plain if you want to try a message like this. There’s no need to squeeze in extra patterns too.

chunky chocolate tops

Not gonna lie, those chunky chocolate pieces are my favorite part of this cookie idea. Some have pale green layers showing along their edges, with more chocolate tucked into the cracked brown tops.

For your own mint-themed version, try chopped mint-filled chocolate pieces.

heart clovers and drizzled pops

How sweet are those tiny heart clovers? Four green hearts decorate each brown-coated round treat, with thin white drizzle along one side.

The clover-shaped treats on sticks add another idea to the mix. I love their looping green drizzle and little gold-colored accents.

rainbow candy tops

Calling all color lovers, this one is for you. These cookies have clusters of little candy-coated pieces in blue, green, yellow, orange, red and brown.

Keep the whole rainbow like this or choose mostly green candies for your own St. Patrick’s Day variation.

striped and spotted clovers

This is another patterned clover idea, but it’s a little different from the first set. I love the dark green cookie with white dots in all those different sizes.

There are feathered stripes and crisscross designs too. Pick a couple of patterns for your batch rather than feeling like every cookie needs a new one.

a lucky cookie assortment

If you are looking for a little bit of everything, then this one is for you. There’s a green hat, a rainbow, a horseshoe, a clover, an orange beard and a black pot topped with gold-colored discs.

The fine dark outlines tie the different shapes together. That dotted clover is especially cute!

dark crinkles with white tops

Last but definitely not least, we have these cookies labeled Guinness crinkle cookies. I love the thick white coating with dark cracks running through it.

They’re a different direction from the green cutouts above. Save this look if you want a cookie tray that isn’t all shamrocks and rainbows.
