An overhead shot of the haldi thali is basically required at this point. Honestly, it should be! I ruined my first three attempts by shooting at an angle. Stand on a chair if you have to. Not the safest move, but worth it, haha!

The candid laugh shot beats every posed one, no contest. Somebody always gets a little too much paste on their face and the reaction is priceless! Keep the camera rolling instead of waiting for a pose. The real moments happen when nobody’s looking at the lens.
Window Light Silhouette Portrait
For photography ideas at home that need zero equipment, a window light silhouette portrait is hard to beat. I did this in my living room with nothing but a bedsheet curtain. Stand the subject a few feet from a bright window and expose for the light behind them. It looks way more professional than it actually is, lol!

Staircases throw the best shadow patterns in the late afternoon. I waited around my own hallway for twenty minutes just to catch it once. Wait until the sun hits the railing just right so the stripes fall like a painted set. Not too shabby for a random Tuesday, haha!

Bedsheet Fort Reading Nook
A bedsheet fort makes the coziest little reading nook backdrop you’ll ever build. I strung mine between two dining chairs and it barely held together! Toss in a lamp and a book and you’ve got a whole scene. Nobody has to know it took three clothespins and a prayer, lol!
